The first Spring-Summer 2012 ad campaigns are out!
The Spring-Summer collections for next year have been out for a while, but they haven’t been retailed for the wide audience yet. While celebrities do have access to the piece long before regular people do, we can now safely say that the spring-summer collection clothing and accessories are out!
The calendar marks the official beginning of winter, as well as our approach to spring – the days will be getting longer, the nights shorter. Accordingly, it’s time for the designers to show off their months of work in one of the most desired event of the year: the launch of the spring-summer ad campaigns.
These past few days, several designers went over the top with famous models or new faces, cinema celebrities even, all styled in the best pieces of the collection and as surprising and innovative as possible. We picked some of the best campaigns, of some of the most famous fashion houses, and brought them all together in this post, for you to enjoy. Cause a visual delight is what they are!
Miuccia Prada never, ever, fails to be number one in what concerns collections and ads – for both brands too (Prada and MiuMiu, that is)! The Prada campaign for spring is fresh and delightful, with a strong retro influence from the 50s. A press release mentions that “the gas station is cast as a central symbol in this post-modern crossroads of new horizons and economic fulfillment, a stage set where fashion, fantasy and the promise of new discoveries collide”, thus the old-school cars, prints and colors in the campaign. For the women’s line, several models such as Natasha Poly, Meghan Collison and Kathryn Kruger are used; for the men’s line, we’ve got actor Michael Pitt rocking a 50’s rock-star look, blazer and electric guitar included.
For Dolce&Gabbana, the spring-summer line brings family on the first place. The ad campaign brings the roots of the brand to light: Italy. One of the pictures includes a family of all ages, from children to grandparents, all styled in the most chic Italian style. The picture leaves the impression of an almost amateurish family portrait, but a beautiful one, for sure.
The Mediterranean woman and landscape definitely is inspiration for this campaign – and for the collection as well. Guest star: actress Monica Bellucci.
Versace went for a very familiar face this season: that of the supermodel Gisele Bunchen. A safe choice, on one hand, but an excellent one, altogether. Giselle is posing in a pool, in all leather and studs, sleek, shiny and taller than ever. Along her side is Ryan Barret for menswear, featuring the same background and styling idea. The campaign is sexy, it’s edgy and it’s very contemporary – something that Versace has been focusing on for a couple of seasons now.
Gisele is also the face of the spring-summer 2012 campaign for Givenchy and Ferragamo, which only adds up to her being the world’s best paid model – we can see how that is, if she’s in 3 major campaigns in one season!
Yves Saint Laurent
The 31-year old Mariacarla Boscono landed the Yves Saint Laurent campaign for spring-summer 2012. The Italian model has been declared one of the top 30 models of the 2000s by Vogue – and now she strikes again.
The Yves Saint Laurent campaign is simple, in the sense that it’s classic: one model, in studio. It’s been shot by David Sims, unlike their past nine consecutive campaigns by Inez & Vinoodh. Sexy and glamorous, the new campaign is one to remain in the history of YSL. An interesting touch are the Morticia-like eyebrows
Chanel knows exactly when to keep it simple and when to use overwhelming opulence. And in the spring-summer 2012 it has been decided: simplicity it is! Karl Lagerfeld himself shot the campaign, which features black and white pictures, models in matching outfits, a serene background and gymnastics poses.
Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls are posing in parallel for the ad campaign, with their sleek short hair, white deux-pieces and socks with flat sandals.
In the hope that you’re all ready and excited for the spring-summer season, stay tuned because new posts on this topic will come! We’ll be looking at some runway trends, check the high-street stores to get the look for less, and more! Happy holidays from the NewClothing.CO team!
