The Shirt Dress – Summer Trends
The shirt dress is one of the most practical items in a woman’s wardrobe. It’s been with us for some seasons now, and it’s still here for the summer of 2011. Why do we like it? It’s comfortable, chic, and can be worn in dozens of combos for many occasions. For example, if you combine it with a blazer and heels, you can easily wear it at the office. Just as well, you can wear it with flat sandals and an oversized bag and go to the beach.
For an office outfit, you should go with neutral colors, like black, brown or beige. Leave those light and bold colors for your free time! Although the most common type of shirt dress is the safari dress (in earth tones, with large buttons and a lot of pockets), it doesn’t mean that the shirt dress is reserved to day wear. The lace dress from Barneys New York will give you a wonderful retro look for evening! The same goes for the Halston Heritage light pink dress, made out of elegant silk, or the masculine plain white Alexander Wang dress, that can look amazing with a leather jacket and heels.
Denim is excellent for a shirt dress – wear it when going shopping, or out with your friends. The most interesting denim shirt dress is, by far, the one from Junya Watanabe – those folds look amazing! Add a belt to it and you get a freakishly stylish silhouette!
