Fashion designers - Frida Giannini: Queen of Fashion

No doubt, she is one of the hottest designers of the moment. Her collections delight us and also become a reference point in the fashion industry, especially for those who want to follow the most important trends each season.

After succeeding Tom Ford as Creative Gucci Director, Frida Giannini not only has preserved the status of the company, but also has achieved recognition at International level with a different and very distinctive style (check out her proposals for this Spring/Summer 2009 season). Besides, at the present time, she is dedicated to remodeling the stores of the company by using a new concept based on open spaces, natural light and comfortable materials.

With this new philosophy, Frida Giannini redesigned the Gucci store on Sloane Street in London, which reopened last month. This renovation also was accompanied by a limited handbags collection with the Union Jack (British flag) of the former British Empire.

With this collection, the Italian designer has paid tribute to England. And recently, it seems that some people wanted to return the favor to Frida Giannini  in the British capital by celebrating a candlelit dinner in her honor. The event was conceived by Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue, who showed a lot of affection for the designer at the new Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea. Other important people of the fashion world were also seen in the event, including designer Roland Mouret and top models Claudia Schiffer, Erin O’Connor, Jacquetta Wheeler and Elizabeth Jagger. It was a real homage to one of the queens of fashion.
