Custo Barcelona: Custo Dalmau only believes in fashion with individual influenceYesterday, designer Custo Dalmau said in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) that he only believes in fashion that is the result of individual projects and rejected the idea of attributing certain trends to the countries, instead of people.

“For me, thinking the fashion like something from Spain or Italy doesn’t make sense, I believe that this way of thinking is only a political effort that tends to confuse people instead of providing orientation”, he said in a interview for EFE (a Spanish news agency). Custo Dalmau is the head designer and founder of the Spanish fashion label “Custo Barcelona”.

He considers that what happens with the European and American fashion is Europe and United States have a great “marketing” supporting the fashion industry. This way, several brands and designers present their products with a strong recognition in many places around the world, including Asia, Latin America or the Caribbean where, according to him, there are no similar marketing tools.

“Fashion is everywhere, but the marketing has a great weight on the fashion scene, especially when   launching projects, and the fashion marketing works better in United States and Europe”, he added.
