Charlotte Taylor Spring-Summer 2011 Collection
Charlotte Taylor started up her own clothing line in 2009, after graduating from Central Saint Martin’s and working with important British designers, including Luella. Her style is effortlessly elegant, with contrasting androgynous tones, that does nothing but underline and complement the feminine silhouette.
Her spring-summer 2011 collection, just like most of her clothes, is geometric, architectural even, with bold shapes and colors. Inspired by old-school robots, sail making, copper and rust, the pieces in this collection make their own statement and they require little or no accessories.
The colors are paired up to create wonderful contrasts – there is a cold tone for every warm tone: orange and blue, blue and yellow, green and red combos are seen through the collection. Since color blocks are huge this spring, the collection is very trendy.
Straps are one of the main focuses. You’ll find gorgeous strappy shoes and straps on the shoulders, where they normally belong. But you’ll also see straps at the waistline of dresses, with rectangular cut outs. This motif is also present in the accessories, like for example the steam-punk looking copper neck pieces with reverse pyramid shape.
Charlotte Taylor loves denim and you can see plenty of that in the collection. The most interesting piece from this point of view would be the long blue dress with cut outs at the neckline and a T on the chest. Wear it with a boater hat for a bohemian, casual look!
