The American designer Lauren Moffatt was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the Chestnut Hill College, with a major in Fine Arts. At 24, she moved to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer, and in 2000 she launched a ready to wear collection, inspired by her love for vintage clothing. For the first two seasons, the clothes were sewn by the designer herself.

It’s still hot outside, but autumn is around the corner, so Topshop, among others, published their fall-winter 2011 look book recently. I’d like to wear a certain dress, but it goes only with one pair of shoes that I don’t feel like putting on today. And then there’s this cardie that only goes with those tights that I just broke. Ever since the 18th century, denim has been used by Americans in their clothes. The best quality of this fabric is endurance and this is the reason why denim was initially worn by militaries and workers. Some of the earliest names associated with jeans were Levi Strauss, Calvin Rogers and Jacob Davis. At first, the difference between men and women jeans was the zipper in front for men, and on the side for ladies. Jeans were mostly loose. In the 1950′s they became popular with teenagers and things started to change. Being considered too casual, they were sometimes banned from theaters or restaurants. Jeans became generally accepted and highly popular in the 70′s and they’ve never been out of fashion since.
