For the fall-winter 2010-2011 season, Tommy Hilfiger came with the most innovator campaign: “Meet the Hilfigers”. Shot by Craig McDean, the ads show the pretend-Hilfiger-family, impersonated by such models as Jacquelyn Jablonski, Gracie Carvalho, Iselin Sterio, Sam Way and Noah Mills. There is even an exchange student in this “family”, Luis, who comes from Lisbon and who likes it so much among the Hilfigers, that “it’s been three years and counting since he’s been home”. When it comes to what this collection has to offer, the overall style is casual, preppy, but with a twist – be it a surprising color combo, a bold pair of shoes or an unexpected shape. The dominant color is brown, associated with dark green, camel, gray, red or blue.

On the runway, silk shirts are combined with sweaters and cardigans and long, wide skirts. Shorts are very popular, even leather ones, worn with thick leggings. Both skirts and trousers are high-waisted, and the paper-bag cut is particularly present. The coats are either loose, oversized, or fitted and worn with a belt.

Most handbags in this collection come in retro, cylinder shape, but there are also oversized clutches and chain purses. The shoes demand attention: over-the-knee, suede boots or red, lace-up booties for women, and casual boots for menswear. Another interesting accessory is the knitted collar, which is unisex. A boring outfit can easily be revived by one of the thin, red belts that Hilfiger offers for the cold season.
