Loewe: homage to the Spanish Baroque style

Twelve months have been enough for Stuart Vevers, Creative Director at Loewe, the Spanish luxury clothing and accessories brand owned by the French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy). Now, he has demonstrated a new era has begun for the Spanish company since he works there. Before he arrived in Madrid (January 2008), many people already thought he had the Midas touch  for bags and accessories market because he could transform any accessories or bags line into a successful line. Anyway, last week the British designer surprised us by presenting a collection for women at the Paris Fashion Week (prêt-à-porter). This collection is based on the most exquisite functional luxury that serves as a homage to the Spanish Baroque style.

Miuccia Prada is an extreme designer. Sometimes, her collections are beautiful and we all love them and sometimes, she designs strange collections nobody seems to understand. However, the important thing is a Prada collection is always a reference point of the entire fashion industry. Now, when the world is facing a global economic crisis, it seems that Miuccia found some inspiration in the interwar period to design sober clothes for women without using complex designs. In this collection, simplicity is key.

Ladies dresses in black for a gala full of awards

The 81st Academy / Oscar Awards ceremony reminded us the glamour that marked the Golden Age of Hollywood, since many celebrities had a great preference for formality by wearing clothes in white and black. In general, this time the stars changed their colored and ostentatious clothing of previous ceremonies. Instead, they had a more sober style this year.
